Stockman

On my way out to North Star recently there was a large mob of cattle grazing roadside.  Waiting nearby was a Stockman, patiently sitting on the fence. I asked him if I could take his photo. He smiled with the biggest grin I have ever seen and then nodded. He didn’t move and continued to watch the mob as they grazed on. It was an opportunity I couldn’t miss. Here is my favourite image, with a dash of photoshop. Nat

Letterpress

At the moment our Adana 8×5 has a small corner in our studio, as we are rapidly running short of space. Imported from the UK and lovingly packed, it arrived in perfect condition despite a good inspection at customs.  New rollers, a quick wipe over and in perfect working order.  Along with the press I have purchased some divine fonts.  If you are after a great font foundary, visit Schulyer at Skyline Type Foundary. Sky is extremely helpful and his products are excellent. The typefaces are perfectly made and he will ship goods out as quick as a flash. Go visit his site, the tone is very dry and very funny. When he emails me he says: “Nice to hear from you down under!” (which always makes me smile!).

The Mayan Calendar

There has been a lot of discussion about the Mayan Calendar and its cycle ending on 21 December 2012. The Mayan Calendar is an extremely complex & amazingly accurate time keeper over the last 5,000 years. It predicted planetary cycles, solar and lunar eclipses, major events and our calendar today still uses the 365 day cycles. The Mayans were around from about 6AD to 9AD, in Central America.  With the Mayan Calendar running out in 2012, some believe it is the end of time, with a polar shift and great disasters, leading to the end of the world. Others believe it is actually the dawn of a new age, a new time and something to look forward to.  We have a large Mayan Calandar in our front office. I don’t know who the artist is who made this. It’s made of copper and expertly made, in detail. My parents bought it for me.  Its a beautiful piece.  I had to have the wall braced to carry its weight!. I thought I would share it with you.

15 Year old Cake

Being a sentimental at heart, after 15 years, I finally gave the middle tier of our wedding cake to our hen.  It survived 6 moves, frozen solid, carefully packed, and after at least 10 years of Husband asking for it to be removed, I did it yesterday.  It was fun really, Muscles and Sweetie, (our nine year old twins), were fascinated. We had a lengthy discussion about weddings and how their  Dad and I met. Husband had the usual jibes about what a hoarder I am, and we laughed alot. I decided to photograph it before it left for the hen house, and hoped the hen would be still alive in the morning for fear of food poisoning. She is, and so am I. With the fun we had yesterday, it really didnt hurt a bit! Till next time Nat

In Between Races

Laying in the dust and prickles, it must have been 40 degrees, I waited for the next turn of motor bike riders to come past. I started taking images of logs, race markers and thistle flowers. Then a butterfly came along, stopping to visit each flower for a second and fluttering to the next. Nat

My Darling, My Hamburger…

KM1

km3km5

My oldest and greatest childhood friend came to stay this weekend. I love her because she is quirky, funny, kind hearted and still likes me – even for my bad bits.

I took these soft images to celebrate K&M, and their new beginning.

When you are older, finding someone special to share your life with, is truly something to celebrate.

In reference to the title it was first published in 1969 and was a scandalous school book review for us.  Nat

Big Dog

Big Dog

I do a lot of product photography for catalogues, brochures and websites. Last Friday we did Week 6 of the Mitre 10 Goondiwindi lead up to Xmas promotions. This week was focussed on Pet foods and accessories. To add some fun to the shoot, “M” (store owner) bought his loyal companion in.

I just had to share this with you. Eemo was such a good model, happy to do as we asked of him and stay in poses. Warning; With photography, as the old saying goes, be wary working with children and animals. Eemo was a treat, a real exception to the rule… Note to self: Put Eemo on the list for future Model resources. Nat

This weeks logos

Logos2

We completed some great logos this week, there is obviously still plenty of movement in business, and it doesn’t seem to have affected client decisions on their business direction. Exciting Stuff! I thoroughly enjoyed designing these, and we also get to design fantastic business cards and other stationery to go with.  I enjoy the passion and excitement of a clients new business, as well as re-inventing existing, so it thrills me to help out with their logos and corporate image. Designed with passion and of course with Vigour!! Till next time. Nat

Work is so busy here and I felt like taking 5 minutes out to clear my head… I thought I would share some images with you. We’ve been out in the wheat again, taking stock photos for Agricultural Companies, printing and promotion. I met some young brothers while on one property, so took the opportunity to photograph them.  It passed the time while I was waiting for the headers to do another loop past me. They have great faces, dirt n’ all and were so well mannered.  I really enjoyed their company and they had so much funny information to share with me. They were occupying themselves at the side of the paddock until their Dad finished for the day. Here are some other images below, from other properties.
